Renew Newcastle - Australia's leading meanwhilers

If you haven't heard of Renew Newcastle check them out right now. They've been doing meanwhile massively in the hollowed-out heart of ex-industrial Newcastle, New South Wales for two years. 300 Woolworths stores 'still empty'

Forty per cent of former Woolworths stores remain empty, according to figures released today.
A survey by retail data provider the Data Company shows that more than 300 Woolworths stores remain empty across the UK.

Norwich has Shop Art!

Norwich is making good use of the funding that was allocated through the Department for Communities and Local Government to support high streets and town centres through the recession by encouraging meanwhile use of empty premises in the city centre. Norwich Arts Centre has been commissioned to run the inititiative on behalf of Norwich City Council. They have called the project ShopArt! and an exhibition of art in shop windows will last for 6 months from October 2010 to March…
