Temporary Animation Expression of Interest Form for Willesden Green Library

In advance of the major redevelopment of the site (somewhere near end of 2011) London Borough of Brent are offering a unique opportunity for members of our community to engage with the space and try out a business or creative or community idea they may have there.

London Borough of Brent will simultaneously be using this opportunity to ‘litmus test’ both audience and product to see what may or may not work on the site once its redeveloped.

URGENT: Make-Do Project intern needed

Make-Do is a collective of volunteers that activates spaces, people and communities in order to stimulate change. We do this by creating temporary platforms for all kinds of community projects. Our first project will be at 52 Phoenix Road in Somers Town, Camden and will take place for a couple of months at the end of the year.

This space is open to anyone to try out an idea they have for an event, an exhibition, a workshop or any kind of social project. All we ask is that in exchange for… Continue

In the news this week...

To be fair I've been a bit slack over the last few weeks so I'm sorry about the lack of news. However we are working with Sarah Milne on a new newsletter set to go out this time next week AND we have an intern. The amazing Dionne Helene, a Graphic Design student from Camberwell Arts College who is interested in the alternative use of derelict spaces. Ideal.

Anyways, I've picked out a few bits on interesting reading to fill your afternoons with and give you food for thought. Good to see… Continue

Hastings Pier attacked by arsonists - Hastings Pier and White Rock Trust

Woke this morning to the news that arsonists have been playing on Hastings Pier. By the sounds of reports by the BBC the area effected mainly is the Ballroom where the blaze was started.

With initial repair costs of £3 million this is going to be a significant blow to the Trust who have been working so hard to coordinate funding, profile and CPO's since the gates to the apron shut in 2006.

Hastings pier is a well loved but always under used assett to the seaside town on… Continue
