Hi everyone

I am currently co-ordinating a Meanwhile project that we have named 'Shop Art' using shops, open spaces and frontages to breath life into the town centre.  I have read a lot about meanwhile uses but I haven't been able to find any case studies and success stories.  Does anyone know where I can find this or would you like to share some case studies and experiences on here?

Thanks

Anth

Hi - check out the Empty Shops Network at www.artistsandmakers.com/emptyshops for links to lots of pojects - and a link to the Empty Shops Toolkit which has some case studies in it.
Thanks!
Browse through the Meanwhile Project Showcase, full write up, pics, budget info, challenges overcome etc at http://www.meanwhile.org.uk/showcase
Good luck. What town centre? Am sure there will be members on the forum who'd be interested.

It's Gateshead town centre. Hoping to launch the project within the next few weeks. Thanks for all the advice!
Good luck Anthony. Let us all know how you get on. Also, have a look at the 'No Time To Waste' report http://meanwhilespace.ning.com/profiles/blogs/read-the-no-time-to-w.... which can be useful as a 'convincer' for landlords or local authorities dragging their feet.
Hello Anth,

My name is Jenny and I have been managing and curating exhibitions in an art gallery that we opened in Brixton Village last February as part of an initiative of Lambeth in collaboration with The Space Makers Agency. Last October they announced 20 empty shops units in Brixton Market - one of the old indoor markets in Brixton.

If you are interested in our project please get in touch with me.

Thanks

Jenny
Thanks for the advice everyone, things seem to be moving on well. I may return for further advice and with updates on how the project is going.
