I'm putting on an art exhibition as part of the Chorlton Arts Festival next week. I have been given use of an old animation studio building, Cosgrove Hall, by the current owners. They have requested we pay for public liability insurance. Does anyone have experience of dealing with this issue when setting up a temporary empty shop gallery?
I heard that you can get it through a trade magazine for very cheap, for temporary exhibitions. Otherwise, membership of a trade body, example, Musician's Union or BECTU is how a lot of people get it.
Alex is right about the magazine where you can get public liability insurance as a artist. It's worth checking their policies cover the specifics of your event though. It is AN Magazine the website is http://www.a-n.co.uk/publications/a-n_magazine.
